"I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for Alfie. He settled in so fast, has grown in confidence and had lots of fun: I shall continue to recommend you to everyone." - Mandy
At about 3 years old the children are ready to move up into the pre-school room. The room has zoned areas for different types of play from role-play activities, quiet story reading areas, mark making, ICT, construction and messy play.
Outside play is very important at Sunbeams and children are allowed outdoors most of the day, in all weathers. The children are able to take part in forest school based play and exploration with the mud kitchen, digging and large construction area, water wall and exploring the school field and wood.
All 3 and 4 year olds fall under the scope of the Early Year Foundation Stage (EYFS), a framework put in place by the government which all early-years settings follow right through to the end of reception class at school. By designing activities and observing play, we can ensure that your child is developing and learning the skills and abilities to transfer happily into school after they have turned four.
In Sunbeams Pre-school room we use story making which is where the children learn to retell a story using large actions. Other acivities in the pre-school are then linked to the story which changes every 3 weeks. Each week the pre-school children can take part in a forest school session and cooking activity.Physical exercise is very important for young children and we are able to use the school gym and join St. James school for the morning session of wake and shake.
